If it feels like your child always has a cold, you're not imagining it. Children get an average of 5 to 8 colds a year and that's completely normal.
Here's why: there are hundreds of different cold viruses out there and young children have never encountered any of them before. Their bodies are essentially meeting each one for the first time, with no immunity built up yet.
The good news? Every cold they get through makes them stronger. Over time, they catch fewer and fewer. Most colds in young children clear up on their own within 2 weeks.
