Nakuru Level 6 Hospital, previously known as Nakuru County Referral Hospital (Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital) was founded in 1906 as a military hospital and became gazetted as a public hospital in 1956. In 2019 the hospital was elevated from level 5 into a level 6 facility making it a national referral hospital in the same rank as Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
